Howard County, MD - 27 Year Old Male - Sex Sting With A Minor On Social Media - Arrested - He Lunged Into The Front Seat Trying To Steal Detective's Car - Assaults Officer

December 1, 2016

An Elkridge man was charged with sexual solicitation of a child after asking a 10-year-old girl online for nude photos of herself and to meet for sex acts.

William Lemus Gonzalez, 27, also faces attempted vehicle theft, escape and assault charges, police said, after he tried to drive away from Howard County police officers following his arrest last week. Police began their investigation after the girl reported her online conversation with Lemus Gonzalez.

Lemus Gonzalez was arrested Nov. 17 as he walked into a Columbia apartment building expecting to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex, who was actually an undercover police detective.

While an officer drove him to central booking, police said Lemus Gonzalez attempted to break out of the back seat of a police vehicle. As the officer stopped the car to re-secure him, Lemus Gonzalez jumped into the front seat, tried to drive the car and assaulted the officer.

Police said Lemus Gonzalez was re-secured and taken to the Howard County Detention Center, where he's being held on no bond.

He has been charged with sexual solicitation of a minor, attempted motor vehicle theft, attempted escape, second-degree assault and resisting arrest.

Howard detectives believe Lemus Gonzalez may have solicited other underage victims for sex.
