Jackson, MS - 14 Year Old DUI Suspect In Handcuffs Stole Jackson Police Cruiser And Crashed It Into A Ditch

April 3, 2016

We've learned from JPD Officer Colendula Green that a police cruiser was stolen from Precinct 3 Sunday night.

Details are limited at this time, but Green said a 14-year-old juvenile stole the vehicle, and it was later retrieved.

Our crew on the scene saw a person handcuffed inside a police cruiser on Michael Avalon Street, near Industrial Drive.

The person was being checked for injuries by AMR.

Our crew also saw a police cruiser at the same location crashed in a ditch.

It is unclear if the keys were inside the car or if the vehicle was hot wired.

No one was injured and the teen is now in police custody.

Officer Green said the cruiser was a DUI vehicle and it didn't suffer much damage.

We will continue to follow this story and bring you the latest as more information becomes available.
